Frequently asked questions
The questions that come up in every conversation with a shopkeeper. If yours is not here, write to us — that is the best way to make this page longer.
The product
What is Kayad Liya, exactly?
Your shop's credit notebook, on your phone. You record what each customer takes and what they pay; the app keeps the totals. Nothing more — and that is already what is missing.
Does it work without a network?
Yes. Everything is saved on the phone first. When the connection returns, the app syncs on its own — and if two phones wrote during the outage, no entry is lost.
How long does recording a credit take?
Three taps: the customer, the amount, credit or payment. It is done before the customer has put their change away.
I have several shops. Is that possible?
Yes. Each shop has its own customers and balances, under one merchant account.
Can my employee use it?
Not yet. Employee accounts — able to record but not to delete — come after launch.
Money
What does it cost?
Keeping your book is free, and will stay free. That is the heart of the product: nobody should pay to know what they are owed.
So what will be paid for?
The automation: scheduled reminders, several shops, reports. Prices vary by region, because a grocer in Casablanca and a grocer in a village do not have the same turnover.
I have no bank card. Can I pay?
Yes, in cash. The subscription will be payable at an agency counter with a code to present — it is designed for that.
Will my customer be able to pay their debt in the app?
It is planned, and not yet open. One rule will not change: Kayad Liya will never hold your customers’ money. Payment will go through an institution licensed by Bank Al-Maghrib that settles you directly; we only keep the book up to date.
My data
Is my customer data mine?
Yes. Your customers, your entries, your balances. We do not sell them, we do not share them with any other merchant, and you can export them whenever you want.
Where is the data stored?
On servers in Europe, encrypted, with daily backups that are encrypted too. The declaration to the CNDP required by law 09-08 will be filed before we open to the public.
If I leave, can I delete everything?
Yes, from the app, without going through us. You can export your book first — leaving should not mean losing.
My customer
What exactly does my customer see?
What they owe you: their credits, their payments, their balance. Nothing about your other customers, and nothing about your turnover.
Does my customer have to install anything?
No. A WhatsApp link opens their page in their browser. A customer app will exist, but it will never be required.
Will reminders upset my customers?
They are written not to. A polite message, in their language, never at night and never twice in a day. And you decide the amount and the number of days that trigger one.
What if my customer does not want messages?
They opt out, and nothing more is sent to them — their refusal outranks the merchant’s setting. Your book keeps working exactly as before.
Technical
Which phones are supported?
Android first, including entry-level models: that is where our users are. iPhone after that.
Is WhatsApp required?
To receive your sign-in code and to send links to your customers, yes — it is what everyone has. SMS takes over when WhatsApp does not get through.
